SWIREPROPERTIES' annual community festive event, 'White Christmas Fair', will return to Tai Koo from 11 to 14 December. This year's theme, 'Colour the Season', will light up the community with neon lights that represent Hong Kong's culture.
The White Christmas Fair will take place at Quarry Bay's Tong Chong Street, Tai Koo Central and Tai Koo Park, and a unique LED neon sign tunnel will be set up at the exit of Tai Koo MTR Station, bringing surprises to every corner of the Tai Koo community.
Highlights of this year's White Christmas Fair include:
A Green Christmas Fair Aiming for Zero Waste
In response to SWIREPROPERTIES' 2030 Sustainability Strategy, this year's White Christmas Fair continues to implement a range of eco-friendly measures, striving for zero waste. After the event, the neon Christmas wreath light installation will be disassembled and upcycled into table lamps, prolonging the neon glow. As always, reusable cutlery rental services will be provided, and most installations and printed materials use honeycomb cardboard and quartz sand 3D printing technology, made with fully recyclable materials and methods.
The Fair collaborates with Recyclink, an environmental consulting firm founded by SPPA alumni, to install eight electricity meters to measure power consumption and quantify carbon emissions, and once again conduct a comprehensive carbon footprint assessment for the event, setting carbon reduction measures and targets for future events.
The White Christmas Fair is fully designed, planned and executed by the 2025 student team of SWIREPROPERTIES' flagship youth empowerment project, 'SWIREPROPERTIES Placemaking Academy', inspired by the company's placemaking philosophy and the rich historical stories of the Eastern District, using Hong Kong's neon lights to design this year's theme, 'Colour the Season'.
The 'SPPA Youth Programme', jointly planned by SPPA and the Eastern District Civil Affairs Department's 'Eastern District Green Vine Project', is now in its third edition, with five students from Eastern District schools undergoing training to serve as emcees for the Fair.
All proceeds from this year's White Christmas Fair will continue to be donated to the annual charity fundraiser, 'Operation Santa Claus', spreading the warm neon glow to more corners.
